This Paul Bunyan statue is considered one of Fred Smith's favorite pieces. The idea was kicked around the Rock Garden Tavern until it turned into a wager. Someone bet Smith that he couldn't make Paul Bunyan standing on a marble. This was ridiculous; it was no problem for Fred to build the 16 foot tall statue, strongly resembling Teddy Roosevelt, with wire-rimmed glasses and a rifle, standing on a large hemisphere - a marble.
